Introduction to Aromatherapy

I believe everyone likes the smell of a good fragrance!
In nature floral fragrances spread on the wind and a walk in a garden or forest makes people feel comfortable all over their bodies, and their tight nerves and every inch of muscle in their bodies slowly relax. This is a way to relieve the pressure of life and eliminate fatigue.

Whenever I smell the aroma of flowers, it makes me feel relaxed and happy. This is one of the reasons that led me to recognize essential oils. Essential oils also smell fragrant, and science has proven that natural essential oils can enter the human brain and blood through the sense of smell, breathing or absorption through the skin to produce physiological effects.

1) Aromas enter the nose and affect sensors in the Olfactory Bulb.

2) Essential oils can also be absorbed into the body through capillaries and sweat pores in your skin.

I remember when I first placed an order to buy essential oils, I was shocked when I saw the price!
How was such a small bottle so expensive! I didn’t think it was worth it at the time, it was too high a price. But I still placed my order and bought the essential oil and then I was too anxious to use it so put it into a drawer. Until one day, I accidentally cut my finger while opening a tin of condensed milk for my coffee.
The wound kept bleeding. I was in a hurry to find my first aid box, I suddenly saw the essential oil I had put in the drawer a while ago. I picked up the essential oil- lavender and poured a few drops of essential oil into the bleeding cut on my finger. I thought it would hurt, but it didn’t! It felt a little bit cold, and after a while I saw that the bleeding had stopped. It was then that I found that it was quite effective.

Later, the deeper I learned about essential oils, the more interested I was to discover more. I found that there are many wonderful and interesting stories and sources, which deeply stirred my curiosity and exploration spirit. It found out that in ancient times, the nobles of the palace began to use natural plant extracts to maintain skin and treat diseases.

In addition, ancient Egyptian mummifiers also used cedarwood to prevent the decay of the bodies they were preserving. When animals are sick, they will find herbs to eat to make themselves feel better.
There is no denying that essential oils are so amazing and have so many benefits.

Essential oils and the science of aromatherapy is indeed a very practical and naturally good area of knowledge to have and develop. It can prove so useful in everyday life for you and your family.

I have a few essential oils that I must own and I never let go. It’s like a first aid box, they can come in handy in case of emergency or when an urgent need arises.
My set has lavender, tea tree, lemon and peppermint oil. (They are called universal or multi-purpose essential oils)

I call this combination my 4S”.
For me, “4S” is very magical and effective. This set of 4 formulated essential oils is indispensable! This combination is a formulation of essential oils. They help me breath deeply, feel calm, they give me vitality and act as a purifying agent.

How to distinguish between single and formulated essential oils?

To put it simply, single, universal essential oils are more used for targeted therapy. For example, using a single essential oil lavender can not only calm down emotions and eliminate anxiety, but also quickly treat inflamed skin. In addition, universal essential oils can be prepared for different treatments.

The formulated essential oil is used for prevention and treatment and is a mixture of essential oils (eg. Deep breath has 13 oils blended together…)
They are convenient as they are already prepared to make it convenient and effective for every household.

A guide on how to use essential oils:

Essential oils can bring many benefits to people’s emotions and body, and can also be used unilaterally or compounded according to your personal experience and preferences.
The use of essential oils can be very simple and at the same time bring great changes.

Before using essential oils for the first time, it is helpful to consult people who have experience in using essential oils, and it will also bring a better experience. Essential oil itself is safe. If it is used as directed, it will rarely have adverse side effects. However, because essential oil is a high-quality concentrated product, it needs to be used with caution.

Be sure to use only 100% pure essential oils of conditioning grade and follow the warnings and instructions listed on the packaging. Never let essential oils get into your eyes or inner ears. If redness or irritation occurs after application, wipe with a natural based oils such as jojoba oil , coconut oil on the affected area. Do not wipe with water because water cannot dilute essential oils. People who are pregnant or are being treated by a doctor, please consult your doctor before using essential oils.

How do you use essential oils?

They are very simple and convenient to use, and can greatly improve the health and well-being of the family. They are usually used in the following 3 ways :

(1) Aromatherapy:

Some essential oils floating in the air will make you feel refreshed, and some will bring a calming and soothing atmosphere. Essential oil fragrance can also purify harmful gases in the air and enrich your home with energetic aroma.

(2) Oral therapy:

Essential oils can be used orally to support a variety of health needs. Oral essential oils allow the body to easily obtain natural health needs. To take care of the health of you and your family, essential oils are choices that will make you both excited and yearning. Whether it is for external use, enjoying the fragrance diffused in the air, or for internal use, essential oils will definitely bring you infinite positive and infinite health effects.

(3) Local topical therapy:

Essential oils are easily absorbed by the skin, so they can be safely used locally. It can be customized according to the needs of you and your family. In addition, as long as you pay attention to skin sensitivity, essential oils can also be used in lotions or creams.
When choosing, you must first determine the purity and efficacy of the essential oil.

When I cook at home, especially when frying fish, I sometimes get burnt by hot oil splattering on my hands. After first running cold water over the area, I would immediately place a drop of lavender directly on the area where I was burned by the oil. (Ps: Immediately put lavender essential oil on the burned area to avoid blistering of the burned area) When you do this, it can quickly relieve pain and will not cause redness and blistering, and accelerate the wound healing. This is one of the reasons why I must always have lavender oil available at home.

Recently I hurt my foot whilst out cycling and had pain and swelling of my ankle joint. I used lavender, tea-tree and peppermint to apply an ice pack to the wounds. I did this by mixing with some base oil such as olive, coconut or simple massage oil and applied to the affected area. I then applied the ice pack for 20 minutes. I repeated this twice each day for three days. The swelling went down very quickly as did the throbbing pain I had been experiencing. I have also tried this with ice alone and the combination with essential oils on the skin is much more effective.

When you really understand essential oils you will find that it is actually quite fun. With various functions and diversified products, you can formulate a set of different needs and related problems that you want to aim at to effectively solve or improve.

Lemon essential oil is specially used to improve my facial skin care. lemon essential oil is aimed at skin whitening and light spots. Mix evenly in skin care products. At first, when I first learned about essential oils but did not have a deep understanding, in order to strengthen the whitening and blemish effect, I added double the amount, and thought that the effect of adding more quantity would be faster and more effective. Facts have proved that this is stupid behavior. Not only is it a serious waste, it may also cause skin irritation or cause other symptoms. Essential oils are very concentrated. They are usually measured by “a few drops” and must be diluted before use. (Except for lavender and Tea-Tree, only these two are allowed to directly contact the skin)

It’s nothing special to see a simple product, but when you understand them, you will find how powerful they are and how effective they are. I am very fond of essential oils myself, with a curiosity and a spirit of exploration as I learn more about their potential. With just a few essential oils alone, products with different effects can be easily formulated.

Useful applications:

(1) LAVENDER

  • Apply to soles and pillows before going to bed to help fall asleep
  • Appease bee bites or insect pads
  • After mixing bath salt, put it in hot water to enjoy the relaxing spa experience
  • When traveling long distances, rub on your wrist or inhale to relieve motion sickness or motion sickness
  • Gently rub on exposed or slightly scalded skin to achieve a soothing effect.
  • When a child is irritable, rub it on the back, hands or feet to appease their emotions and soothe them.
  • Soothe sensitive skin and sting pores after plucking
  • Apply on chapped lips before rubbing lip balm
  • Blended with peppermint essential oil to massage the scalp and promote healthy hair
  • Added in lotion, used for local massage to relieve stress

(2) LEMON

  • Add a drop to a drinking bottle or restaurant drinking water
  • Used in fragrance spray or rubbed on the body, it can soothe the mood
  • Take it in honey to relieve cough and sore throat
  • After reconciling with coconut oil, apply to nails to keep nails healthy
  • After brushing, drop a drop of lemon and mint to keep the toothbrush clean
  • Spraying wine in the air with an aromatic sprayer can reduce the bad smell
  • Remove chewing gum, trademark adhesives and grease from fabric
  • Can be used to clean kitchen counters and stainless steel appliances
  • Add to olive oil can be used as non-toxic furniture brightener

(3) PEPPERMINT

  • Apply to the abdomen or feet, or take a drop to soothe indigestion and stomach upset
  • Add it to the water with lemon as a healthy and fresh mouthwash
  • Use an aromatic spray or lightly rub on the bridge of the nose to pass through the nose and breathe
  • Mixed with lavender to relieve sore muscles and joints
  • Inhalation while eating can increase satiety
  • When heatstroke, add it to cold water bag or use it to soak your feet to lower body temperature
  • When driving a long distance, you can breathe in the nasal cavity or rub it on the temple to refresh
  • Added to shampoo and conditioner to stimulate hair and massage scalp
  • In allergy season, it can be reconciled with lavender and lemon
  • When staying up late or studying, you can put a drop on the collar to boost the spirit or mood

(4) ORGANIC TEA-TREE

  • Apply on scars and rashes, cleans scalps
  • Use to clean foot and nail after bath, swimming and walking
  • A natural antiseptic, can be apply on wound to prevent infection
  • Can treat minor burn, bugs bite and pain effectively
